The Blue Drop is the platform where the drop is ink and color. Here art and culture are intertwined with writing and psychology. Here the contaminations and the plots are the basis of the analysis. I’m the writer, I’m an art historian, I’m partly a psychologist. I’m Francesca, but you can call me Rebis.

A Blue Year

February 28, 2021

To say that this year has left its mark is an understatement. Having lived it means having officially entered the history books.

But stories can happen in a year that they don’t write in books. Parallel lives that flow in the subsoil of the most striking events.

Many beautiful things too.

What I know is that a year ago, today, this site was officially launched, this platform dedicated to art in all its forms and to the wonderful facets that this art can offer. Always with one foot on the contribution that psychology can offer.

Which makes it a Blue Year.

One year ago THE BLUE DROP was born

An idea born from a need. The irresistible call to writing, writing of contamination.

Since my university days, I have tried to describe the works in front of me by comparing them with something else. It had a completely different flavor, another richness. He let the mind pass by that image to open another ten. Each with a story to tell.

Thanks also to my steel memory.

Investigate the hidden meanings, look beyond the “birth of the painter, life, death, miracles”.

Then came psychology, the second degree and it all continued to blend together. Although I wrote already, too many times I have been told that I had to stick to a more “documentary” plan when I was writing.

So, in this vast ocean full of platforms that talk about art in all possible ways, we are there too.

Defining “The Blue Drop” is not easy, because if there is one thing that is really difficult to do is try to give a name to all the facets of a constantly evolving thing. It is like trying to count all the faces of a diamond with the naked eye.

The same idea of ”blue” hides behind several reasons; to name one, for example, the fact that when blue took the place of black in the palette of impressionism, it became a reference color for a new age of art.

As told in the article “From the waves”, one of the first articles written here, in which I had placed all my hope that this was a lucky wave.

During the first months of this blue year, this site represented an infinite source of inspiration for me, a way to communicate with people while everyone was locked up in an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty.

A time when there was talk of “resilience” from all sides. While we preferred to find out what the REACTANCE was:

“The Unsustainable “Levity” of reactance”

Articles have been written that told me beautiful:

From an inspiration of a few years ago (Alighiero Boetti, the first hashtagger,) to a huge article published in installments, based – not entirely original, I admit – of a background that was impossible to silence:

Virus and Art – How and why sickness has been represented

First Part Second Part

Third Part Fourth Part

Then there were articles that allowed us to get in touch with people and try to understand what was going through their heads in the most difficult moments. Sublimating everything through art.

As in the WHATYOUMISS project / article. Here, in fact, we also strongly believe in art through which a bridge can be built with every aspect of current life.

This is why I also created the three columns of The Blue Drop, to fill the week with artistic stimuli in contact with real life. This too turns out to be the basis of every nuance involving psychology.

And the celebration to the Day of Sun with NICHIYŌBI (On Instagram e Facebook, every Sundays)

A Blue Year. A year to think of not being up to par, that two degrees (psychology and history of art) might not be enough to exercise cognition as it should be.

Often creating surreal articles like the protagonists we talked about: Salvador Dalì, with “Ode to Surreal(istic) Elephants” and René Magritte with “The Echo into the Mirror”

A Blue Year. To understand that The Blue Drop can please you, but you are not always careful enough to grasp this type of work and commitment. Which is sometimes easier to follow than lighter content. Until you get comments under the articles that say: <<“Write more, keep doing it. This site is great”>>.

Although you receive many comments and that very often they have as a secondary purpose selling viagra on the internet (I think the word “blue” is misleading) even just receiving one like that, from a perfect stranger on the other side of the world, means that at least a little, in your small or even in your tiny, some fragment of that commitment, of that vision, has arrived.

Show what is the aesthetic-mental inspiration of your favorite season (“Autumn“) or your love for dance (“What exists between Degas and his dancers”) through your writing

And finally, put your face on it too. Make it part of a message of art and writing that blend with beauty, with the interiority of people with their expressiveness. Even if sometimes they are no longer with us, sometimes for a year, sometimes for centuries.

A Blu year. A year of THE BLUE DROP.

This site will not end up in the history books, but if it means anything to anyone, then we have already won.

THANK YOU ALL
